Ida Otero Francis, born November 9, 1922, to Adolfo and Victoriana Otero in the family home in Peralta, NM, was welcomed into her eternal home on July 3, 2015. Ida was a very well-known and respected member of the communities where she lived and worked. In her professional and public life, she owned her own beauty shop, served as Valencia County Clerk, and retired from the State of New Mexico Employment Security Commission. Her greatest work and pleasure was at home as a parent and grandparent. She successfully raised her daughters, and managed her home while working full time to provide for the home. Upon retirement, she was able to help with her grandchildren and to work part time in the catering business. She enjoyed traveling with her niece, Mela Gonzales, and she made many friends along the way. In spite of her active lifestyle, Ida always seemed to be home to provide a meal for her family, or for anyone who might stop by. There was always plenty to eat and drink, and plenty of room for all to be comfortable in her home, no matter the numbers. She seemed to know someone everywhere she went so even a quick trip to the store could turn into hours because she had to stop and visit with someone. She loved her very large and extended family and she will be missed by all who knew her. Ida was preceded in death by her parents; her eleven siblings and their spouses; and numerous members of her extended family. She is survived by her sister, Juanita (Jenny) Otero; two daughters, Victoria Vigil and husband Ernest, and Gloria (Glo) Francis; her grandchildren, Jason Soto and wife Bridgette, Briana Zapata and husband Gilbert; 15 great grandchildren; and 3 great, great grandchildren. Ida is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Rosary and prayer service will be held Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH - University. Funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 619 Copper NW. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
