Hugh Miller Bivens

September 14, 1930 — June 11, 2024

Hugh M. Bivens, age 93, passed away peacefully June 11, 2024. Hugh was born in West Point, MS in 1930 to Eva and Porter Bivens. He is preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann Bivens, his parents, his sister Kay and brother Neal. Hugh is survived by his son Hugh P. Bivens, granddaughter Celeste Irene Bivens and many nieces and nephews.

Hugh attended college at Georgia Institute of Technology where he earned bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering. He worked as a coop student at the Georgia Power Company. Hugh also served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War to help pay for college. He was a radar observer flying in F-89s and stationed mostly in upper Michigan. After his time in the Air Force and his graduation from Georgia Tech, Hugh was hired by Sandia National Laboratories and he made his home in Albuquerque, NM for the rest of his life.

Cremation has occurred and interment will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with private graveside services to be held July 22, 2024. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/donate/), 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis TN 38105, or to a charity of your choice.
