Hilliard, Taylor D.
Age 89, Hilliard D. Taylor, Jr., died March 7, 2018 at his home in Rio Rancho, NM in the loving embrace of his wife and family. Hilliard was born in San Antonio, Texas on May 3, 1928, the son of Hilliard D. Taylor and Marian Baker Taylor. Hilliard met the love of his life, Victoria L. Kerlee (Vicki), in the youth group at Baptist Temple church in San Antonio, and they married in 1952 (65 years!).
Hill is survived by his wife, Vicki and their three daughters, Deena Taylor Rolls and husband Larry Rolls of Corrales, NM, Valerie Taylor Schkade and husband Steve Schkade of Austin, TX, and Shelley Bradshaw and husband Brent Bradshaw, of Austin, TX; four granddaughters Alanna Rolls Giusto and husband John Giusto, Lauren Rolls, Victoria Bradshaw and Olivia Bradshaw; great grandchildren Bryan Robert Giusto, Emma Mae Giusto, Ella Kay Schkade and Ethan Christopher Schkade. Additional family in Corrales include: Hill’s sister-in-law and brother-in-law Dee and John Turner.
Hilliard served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War as a first lieutenant and was in the reserves before and after active duty. Hill and Vicki loved to travel and, following his retirement from the Texas State Auditor’s Office, they traveled in their RV throughout the U.S. with a special love of national parks. In 2011, Hill and Vicki moved from Austin, TX to Rio Rancho, NM.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers at Casa de Paz Assisted Living in Rio Rancho, long-time services of Footprints, and the entire care team at Ambercare hospice. Hill will be buried in the San Fernando Cemetery III in San Antonio, TX. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to US AgainstAlzheimer’s at https://www.usagainstalzheimers.org/donate
