Hilario "Larry" Garcia Sr., passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at his home. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mamie Garcia; children, David P. Garcia, Debbie Garcia, Phil Garcia and Deann Baines and her husband Rob; grandchildren, A.J., Crystal, Lauren, Vanessa, Joshua, K.C. and Victoria; great-grandchildren, Devlin, Ellie and Mila; brother, Richard Garcia (Margaret); sisters, Alda Padilla and Carmen Garcia (Richard); brother-in-law, Antonio "Tony" Zamora and sister-in-law, Juanita Gurule. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Bernardino and Anita Garcia; son, Hilario Garcia "Little Larry", Jr. and brother, Bernardino Garcia, Jr. Larry was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, and retired from Sandia National Labs after 37 years. He served in the United States Army for four years and was a medic in the infantry. He fought in the Korean War. During his lifetime, Larry was involved in the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, St. Vincent de Paul Society and LULAC. He was an active parishioner of The Shrine of St. Bernadette before becoming a member of Risen Savior Catholic Community. Larry was a loving husband, a loving and devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and will be greatly missed. Friends may visit on Sunday, April 6, 2014 beginning at 4:00 p.m. with the Rosary being recited at 5:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Wyoming. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 7, 2014, 10:00 a.m., at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with a reception to follow. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, 4120 Menaul Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
