Higinia (Serrano) Gore

June 2, 1929 — May 14, 2021

Higinia Gore, 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 14, 2021. She began her journey to Heaven with family gathered around her.

Higinia was totally committed to family. Her arms were reaching out to her Father and Mother, Enrique and Higinia Serrano as they came to take her home.

Higinia was extremely loving and proud of her children, Alfred Cata and wife, Marlowe, Sam Cata and wife, Debbie, Estelle Read and husband, Stan (deceased), and stepson, Bobby Gore and Martha.

Higinia was the daughter of Enrique and Higinia Serrano from Youngsville, NM.

She was one of eight children. Her sisters were Aleja Suazo, Adela Salazar, Octaviana Sanchez, Zenovia Doak and Celia Ulibarri, and two brothers, Eulogio Serrano and Cristobal Serrano. She is survived by her sister, Celia and her husband, Ernest Ulibarri.

Besides her children she is survived by eight grandchildren, Sammy Cata, Jennifer Haley, Victor Cata, Gabriel Cata, Sarah Crichlow, Megan Fricks, Bonnie Reincke and Brooks Gore.

She also has wonderful great-grandchildren, Corey Cata, Brandon Cata, Alixandra Haley, Troy Haley, Mallory Raimondi, Charlotte Crichlow, Noah Crichlow, Jordan Fricks, Montana Fricks and Bobbie Jean Reincke. As well as many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are her eight loving grandchildren.

Higinia and all of the Serrano family grew up and thrived as close-knit brothers and sisters in the beautiful northern New Mexico mountain country. Their morals and values were the product of their hard work and caring parents.

She met and married Freddie Cata from San Juan Pueblo. They began their life and family together in a small home next to the Cata household at the Pueblo. Together they raised their mischievous sons and beautiful daughter. They later moved to Albuquerque where the world opened up to both Fred and Higinia. Her family blossomed. She excelled as a working mom with a fulfilling career at Sandia Labs. Their relationship however took different paths.

She later met and married Robert Gore. They found Love, Peace and Purpose in their lives and shared happiness with everyone they met. They opened their home to people from around the world and truly practiced the meaning of Thanksgiving.

Higinia was a proud, beautiful, fun loving, and dignified woman who was unconditionally devoted to her family.

Having her in our lives was a blessed moment.
