Sr. Herminia Cosico, Canossian Daughter of Charity, born in the Philippines on July 17, 1941, and died in Albuquerque on April 8, 2024. She lived a vibrant 59 years of religious life and served God's people generously as a missionary in Albuquerque, New Mexico; San Francisco, California, and in Richmond, Vancouver, Canada.
Sr. Herminia was a nurse and a hospital chaplain. She arrived in Cristo Rey Province in the United States as a missionary in 1983 to fulfill the legacy of Saint Magdalene of Canossa to make Jesus known so He may be loved.
Sr. Herminia is often fondly called Sr Mining. Mining was a gentle soul who absolutely loved people and enjoyed sharing stories about how she always learned something from others. She loved to share about her family who were ever gracious entertainers, often inviting the community of sisters in the Philippines for an afternoon treat. Sr Mining was an intuitive listener and saw things with an act of faith. She easily made herself at home wherever her mission she was called to. She kept up friendships in Albuquerque, California, and Canada mostly by phone and email. The last years of her journey found sister loving to spend her days in prayer and enjoying nature. She was in touch with issues of the world in which she stormed Heaven with her prayers. Goodbye Sr. Mining and may the joy and peace of Heaven surround you. Please pray for us.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, April 17th, at Our Lady of the Annunciation Parish, with Rosary at 8:00 am, Mass of Christian Burial at 8:30 am, followed by interment at 11:30 am at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Mass will be live streamed.
In lieu of flowers, please send your donation to Casa Angelica.
Thanks and blessings.
