Herman Esquibel

Herman Esquibel, also known as Erminio or Herminio Esquibel, age 84, and a long-time resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, played his final hand and passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, July 14, 2023. Herman was born August 21, 1938, to Macedonio "Max" and Esther Esquibel in Abo, New Mexico. Herman then went on to meet his former spouse Molly Perea Esquibel and brought to life six children. He later remarried to his current spouse Mae Cress and together they had one child. By trade, Herman was an electrician for the City of Albuquerque and Albuquerque Public Schools for over 20 years. Herman had skills in many areas; he could build and fix anything and was always hard at work. Herman also had a love and passion for music and singing; he could easily play most instruments; however, his favorite was playing guitar and harmonica.

Herman was also a very talented artist and could draw anything from memory and had the most beautiful penmanship. Herman's favorite pastime in his later years was time traveling through storytelling. He would share memories of his past, including his time as a butcher, shopkeeper, electrician, parking lot attendant, his time at the horse races, card and billiard games, and all his many wild adventures throughout New Mexico. In typical Herman fashion, there are no services planned, and instead, he wanted each of his loved ones to remember him in their own special way and in their own space surrounded by their loved ones. Herman's off to the races and on to his next adventure! Until we meet again, Erminio....

Herman is preceded in death by his father; Macedonio Esquibel, mother, Esther Esquibel; son, John Stephen Esquibel, Molly Perea Esquibel; daughter-in-law, Karen Esquibel; stepson, Matthew Mestas, and sister, Mary Frances Baca.

Herman is survived by his current spouse, Mae Cress; daughter, Melissa Esquibel and her son, Sean O'Connell; son, Travis McKenzie; son, Joseph Esquibel; son, Anthony Esquibel and wife, Rosalind and children, Ezra and Ariel; daughter, Margaret Mary Willams and husband, Mark and daughter, Monet; son, Thomas Esquibel and children, Cristen, Sonrisa, and Tommy; son, Raymond Esquibel and wife, Lourie and children, Raymond Joshua, Jacob Steven, and Alicia Rae; stepdaughter, Sherri Mestas. grand and great-grandchildren, Jazmin Granstaff and her children, Andre and Alaia; Damian Grandstaff and his children, Maya and Adrian; Dominic Barreras and wife, Celeste Gurule and children, Michael, Gwyneth, Dylan, Ethan, Isaac, and Aria; siblings, Irene and Leroy Chavez, Angie and Benji Torres, Joe and Sharon Esquibel; and many other beloved family members and friends.
