Henry (Hank) Arnold Burhans

Henry (Hank) Arnold Burhans, Jr., age 87, of Syracuse, NY, and more recently of Corrales, NM, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 8th, 2022. He graduated from the Mercersburg Academy, Mercersburg, PA and then attended both Colgate University and Syracuse University. He obtained his master's degree in Social Work from Syracuse University and worked for the New York State Department of Mental Health for twenty years before retiring to New Mexico. He received an Honorable Discharge from the United States Air Force Reserve in 1966.
Surviving is his wife of 48 years, Miriam (Mim); children, Henry A Burhans, III (Audra), Laurie Spencer (Chip Carney); and grandson, Riley Patrick Burhans. Hank and Mim were avid golfers and Hank had his only Hole-in-One at the Santa Ana Golf Course on June 21, 2011. He was an avid skier and quit at the age of 80. Most mornings he would get up before dawn to ride his bike.
Burial will occur at the Family plot in Fayetteville, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mercersburg Academy, 300 East Seminary Street, Mercersburg PA 17236-1551or to the charity of your choice.
