Henry Hughes Whitney

November 21, 1920 — April 23, 2017

Lt. Col. Henry (Hank) H. Whitney, Army National Guard, Ret., age 96, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017, Hank was preceded in death by his wife, Louise.



Lt. Col. Whitney served in active service from February 1941 to December 1945 as an enlisted man in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He enlisted in the New Mexico Army National Guard in 1947 serving fulltime until he retired in 1976. For years Lt. Col. Whitney was the State Maintenance Officer for the New Mexico National Guard. He was responsible for development and administration of the outstanding maintenance programs which rated New Mexico as one of the best in the nation.



Lt. Col. Whitney is survived by his daughters, Sandy Hobbs and husband, Gary, and Linda Marmon and husband, Richard; grandchildren, Michael Hobbs (Karen), Linda Pino (Ron), Karen Holmes (Joe), Jason Marmon, and Amy Marmon-Bisetti (Damon); great-grandchildren, Melissa, Melanie, and Kenneth Hobbs, Benjamin Hobbs (Destiny), Ashley, Jacob, Jonathan and Faith Pino, Savannah and Ryan Holmes, Whitney, Alyssa and Brody Bisetti; sister, Mary Lou Como (Dominic) of New York; and many other family members and friends.



Memorial Services will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017, 11:00 a.m., at FRENCH – University. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:15 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the National Guard Association of New Mexico, 47 Bataan Blvd., Santa Fe, NM 87507.
