Henry Martinez

May 27th, 1939 - January 30th, 2024

Henry Martinez, 84, passed away on January 30th, 2024, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Henry was born in Trujillo, NM in San Miguel County. He is preceded in death by his parents Manuel Martinez and Isabella (Pacheco) Martinez, his brother Ben Martinez and his wife Irene Martinez and his brother-in-law Isidro Pacheco.

Henry is survived by his significant other, Angie Ortiz of 35 years. Four adult children; Henrietta Martinez-Montoya and husband Ernie Montoya, Loretta A. Martinez, Lorraine Martinez and Rick Martinez and his significant other, Eileen Ortiz. Grandchildren Joseph Chavez, Savannah Montaño and her husband, Phillip Montaño and Jazmin Martinez. Three Great-Grandchildren Joseph Chavez Jr. (Jo-Jo), Arianni and Aleksandr Montaño, the Ortiz family and many nieces, nephews, co-workers and lifelong friends.

Henry was a dedicated heavy equipment operator in the early road construction industry. He owned and operated his transportation company, H & R Trucking. His handprint is upon many miles of roadway in NM. He concluded his hardworking career at the Southwest landfill as a surveyor. He enjoyed everything about the outdoors and its adventures that it had to offer, such as farming, ranching, branding, fishing, hunting, camping and gardening.

We would like to recognize Silvia Gerardo for her kindness, compassion and Loving Care shared with our dad. She was incredibly helpful and attentive to all of dad and Angie's needs. Veronica Lopez, hospice nurse of New Mexico Hospice, was very patient, knowledgeable and her exemplary professionalism was appreciated by all. Thank You Both, for assisting and guiding us during this very difficult process. Dad appreciated the both of you very much. Muchas Gracias!

Henry's smile, as he waves good-bye, and the genuineness of his true heart will be sincerely missed.

A Rosary will be held at San Isidro Catholic Church on Friday, February 9th, 2024 at 3:00 pm. Located at San Miguel County Road C51A, Trujillo, NM 87701. A Mass will be held the following day at Our Lady of Sorrows Church on Saturday, February 10th, 2024 at 10:00 am. Located at 403 Valencia Street, Las Vegas, NM 87701. Followed by Burial at San Isidro Catholic Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Elmer Pacheco, Nephew; Benjie Martinez, Nephew; Billy Casaus, Nephew; Bennie Martinez, Nephew; Joseph (JB) Chavez, Grandson; Joseph (JoJo) Great Grandson. Honorary Pallbearer will be Bobby Marquez.

A reception will be held at El Rialto Restaurant, 141 Bridge Street, Las Vegas, NM 8770, at 1:00 pm following the burial.
