Age 66, a resident of Albuquerque, died peacefully surrounded by his family on March 15, 2013, after a long illness. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Lopez; sons, Henry Lopez, Jr. and Greg Lopez; grandchildren, James Lopez, Henry Lopez III, Gregory Lopez, Jr. and Sierra Lopez; one great-grandson, James Lopez, Jr.; brothers, Sammy Lopez, Sr., Ignacio Lopez, Celestino Lopez, Navor Lopez, Raymond Lopez and Larry Lopez; sisters, Frances Lopez, Gloria Garcia, Rosie Garcia, and Peggy Garcia; and many other relatives and friends. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Timoteo and Pola Lopez; and brothers, David Lopez and Jimmy Lopez. Henry was born on March 16, 1946 in Ft. Sumner, NM. He attended Ft. Sumner High School until enlisting in the United States Marine Corp. After completing boot camp, Henry was deployed to Vietnam, where he served his country in the front lines of combat. After surviving in the Vietnam War, Henry was awarded a Purple Heart for injuries he sustained in the line of fire. After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the Marine Corp, Henry settled in Albuquerque and married his wife. During this time, he started a career at the Kmart Corporation, where he retired after 15 yrs of service. He went on to pursue his second career at the US Postal Service, where he served proudly until his retirement after of 20 years of service. Henry was known for his passion of classic cars. The cars he owned are too many to list, but he was well known for his 1957 Chevy Cameo pickup and his 1934 Ford three-window Coupe. Henry had a deep devotion to the United States Marine Corp and his vehicles. He will be missed by all who knew him. Semper Fi!! Rosary will be recited on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at 3:00 pm at the Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 9502 4th St. NW. Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 25, 2013 at 9:00 am at the same location. Interment, with full military honors, will immediately follow at 11:15 am at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Sammy Lopez, Sr., Ignacio Lopez, Beto Lopez, Anthony Garcia, Ray Sisneros and Herman Zamora.
