Henry J. Happ III
At age 73, Hank went peacefully into the arms of his Savior Jesus Christ on October 30, 2023. His deep faith and love of Jesus was apparent in the way he loved his wife of 45 years, his children, and grandchildren. He left a legacy of faith that now spans three generations. He had a kind and compassionate heart, always striving to help others.
He is survived by his wife, Jan; 4 children (Katie, Joe, Emily, and Juliana), 10 grandchildren, and his 4 siblings (Terry, Paul, Charlie, and Marianne). He grew up in his childhood home in Cherry Hill, NJ, and following high school he was accepted into the the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs where he earned his degrees in Mathematics and Electrical Engineering, later retiring as a Lt. Colonel in 2002.
He cherished spending time with his wife, especially walking their dogs to the park together and meeting new friends along the way.
He found fulfillment in guiding and mentoring other men, and was always quick to lend a helping hand to someone in need.
Hank was very passionate about music, playing piano and trumpet, and singing in various choirs where he could use his voice for the Lord.
He thoroughly enjoyed his work at Applied Research Associates for 21 years, especially playing Bridge with his coworkers every day during lunch.
Hank filled his family's lives with humor and wit, reveling in being able to tell a joke for any and all occasions, as well as stories that were entertaining and edifying.
He had an unforgettable and infectious laugh that can still be heard in the minds of those who knew him best.
He had a great love of numbers and prided himself in his mathematical abilities.
Hank had such a generous and fun loving personality, and was always up for doing anything with his family and friends.
He was talented in so many ways, one of which was learning to speak German in high school and was then able to carry on a conversation with anyone he met throughout his life.
A day was not complete for him unless he started his mornings with a quiet time to meet with Jesus in personal prayer and Bible study.
He also loved starting his days completing the puzzle page in the newspaper.
He led his family by example in demonstrating values such as unconditional love, integrity, and striving to be a good citizen of our great country.
Hank Happ was an extraordinary man, husband, father, grandfather, and sibling.
He is loved more than words can say and will be greatly missed.
