Helen S. Sanchez

Helen S. Sanchez, age 84, lifelong resident of New Mexico, died on February 15, 2016. Helen is survived by her children, Susan Sanchez, Kenneth Sanchez, and Carmen Villanueva & husband, Timothy, and grandsons Nathan, Austin, and Dylan. Also surviving are brother & sister-in-law, Daniel and Martha Sanchez. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward & Carmen Sanchez; sisters, Annabelle (& husband Merced) Tafoya & Theresa Cook; and brother, Edward Sanchez. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Helen retired in 1998 from the US Department of Interior- Fish & Wildlife Service. She was an active member of Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church, particularly the Golden Agers and the GEMS senior ministries. She belonged to the Women's Guild and was an active participant in the Blessings of Age Task Force Committee. She was also a member of the USNMFCU Golden Eagles having served as an officer. She enjoyed traveling whenever feasible; prior to retirement she traveled to London and Hawaii. In the past few years was fortunate to travel with Msgr. Voorhies on pilgrimages to the Holy Land and to Italy (Rome) and on a Greece/Turkey pilgrimage with Fr. Ramos of the Annunciation Parish. Most recently she traveled with friends to New York City. Friends may visit FRENCH - Wyoming from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m., with Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 19, 2016. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church, 2621 Vermont Street NE. Interment will be at a later date at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Senior Ministries at Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church.
