Helen R. Padilla

Helen R. Padilla, 92, passed away peacefully Friday, March 18th, 2016. Helen was born April 27, 1923 in Colonias, New Mexico, a small town outside of Santa Rosa. Santa Rosa is where she met her late husband, Frank. They then moved to Albuquerque, where they remained married for close to 65 years. They had five children, Steve Padilla, Frances Marquez, Dolores Marshall, Marianne Tapia, and Linda Fay; ten grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. Helen loved spending time with her grandchildren, showing them how to cook, garden, or just simply talking to them. Her granddaughter, Angela, says her favorite memories of her grandmother were, "just listening to her give advice and wisdom to whatever situation you were going through. She was extremely wise beyond her years. She handled everything she was dealt with such grace, strength, and class. She was the most beautiful and dignified women I have ever met." Helen was very active in the community. She was such a busy bee and a social butterfly. She was a life long member of the Catholic daughters and many other clubs and organizations, where she met built long-lasting friendships. Her relationships were very important to her. Currently where she lived they said she was always very concerned with everyone else's wellbeing. Anytime anyone was sick she was always the first one in their rooms praying with them and the last one to leave. She will be greatly missed, but her departed husband and son are more than ready for her to join them. Services for Helen will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 the Rosary will be at 10:15 a.m. and the Mass will be following at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. in Santa Fe at the National Cemetery.
