Hattie R. Gazolas

October 14, 1924 — October 3, 2015

Hattie Gazolas, 90, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2015, just shy of her 91st birthday. She was born October 14, 1924 to Polish immigrants in St. Louis, MO. She was preceded in death by her husband, Isidro Gazolas in 1977; parents, Antoni and Stella Sikora; siblings, Tony Sikora, Ann Eska, John Sikora and wife MaryAnn, Stanley Sikora and Joe Sikora. She is survived by her daughter, Anita Karler and husband Phil of Albuquerque; sisters, Jean Adams, Helen Kiepeszczuk, Theresa Rath, Dorothy Barron and Irene Biggins and husband Jim, all of Missouri; sister-in-law, Virginia Dalesandro of Albuquerque; and brother-in-law, Alex Gazolas and wife Marcella of Vaughn, NM. She has numerous nieces and nephews, including Leon Sikora and wife Jennifer of San Antonio, TX and John Sikora Jr. and wife DeeDee of Albuquerque, and their families. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Deb Waldman and her exceptional staff at Kathryn House for the care and love they gave Hattie for the last 7 ½ years, and also to Dr. Suzanne Pinon for her extraordinary care. Thank you also to Heartland Hospice for being there for her final days. Hattie was a wonderful wife, mother and friend and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Rosary will be recited Thursday, October 8, 2015, 10:30 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., both at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5311 Phoenix NE. Friends and family may visit Queen of Heaven beginning at 9:45 a.m. Burial will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery Thursday at 2:15 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to the Alzheimer's Association.
