Harry and Sarah Galassini

January 15, 1939 — April 10, 2022

Harry and Sarah met in high school in Raton, New Mexico. Sarah was touring the high school with other 8th graders and Harry saw her and told Ickey Johnson "I'm gonna marry that girl", and he did. They were married the summer after Sarah's graduation on June 7, 1959.

Sarah remembers seeing Harry at the "Sweet Shop" and Harry would flirt with her by flicking his yo-yo at her, and also on Sadie Hawkins Day, when the girls would chase the boys and whoever the girls caught would go to the dance with them. She remembers Harry slowing down so she could catch him!

Two daughters followed, Lisa and Stephanie, and the girls were their world. Harry worked in sales for a building material distributor and was often the top salesman at this office. He traveled during the week and Sarah raised the girls and sold Avon and eventually became a district manager for Avon.

When the girls were younger the family enjoyed camping, going to the Drive-In to watch movies on the weekend, and lots of family get togethers. Harry had many siblings that lived close by (he was one of eleven kids). So, aunts, uncles and cousins would get together and eat good food and play a family favorite card game called "Nertz!" for hours.

Lisa and Stephanie remember their dad as easy-going, a jokester funny and dependable. Sarah was loving, strong and fiercely protective of her children!

Harry loved sports and never missed a high school football game while both girls were in high school, with the exception of one game. Lisa backed into his brand-new Ford Thunderbird early in the morning of a Friday night football game when she was leaving to go toilet paper the players yards. He didn't speak to her for 3 days!

Sarah never missed much; Lisa called her "Eagle Eye." One weekend Harry and Sarah were out of town for a H.S. reunion. Lisa had a bunch of girlfriends over for the weekend without permission. They goofed around and Lisa made everybody-spaghetti with homemade sauce. The morning before her parents came home everybody pitched in to clean up. When Harry and Sarah walked in the house, Sarah knew right away something was "Off" She could "smell" spaghetti sauce, and after the girls had vacuumed, Sarah recognized that one of the recliners had been put back about 2 inches off center. Eagle Eye noticed!

Stephanie doesn't have many stories like this to share because according to her, she never did anything wrong! (at least nothing she got caught for). But she does remember going to visit her mom and dad with her husband, Brian. Harry, who loved to grill, barbecued a large platter of chicken. As he's carrying the platter of chicken up to the backdoors, that were see-thru, we noticed he's also juggling grilling tools (trying to make one trip) and struggling to open the door. Before anyone can get to the door to help him, he dumps half the platter on the deck floor. He stops, looks at the chicken (which he's obviously not wanting waste) and not realizing we can see him, picks up the chicken and puts it back on the platter, opens the door and sets it on the table, and says "Let's eat!"

Harry and Sarah were blessed with four kind, respectful and loving grandchildren. In order from oldest to youngest: Kyle, Jared, Steve and Brandon. Harry and Sarah were tremendously proud of them and the people they had grown to be!

Harry and Sarah never got to travel a lot but later in life after the girls were grown, they went on a trip of a lifetime to Australia. They both loved it! Sarah said it was a magical trip!

Lisa and Stephanie are so grateful for a fantastic childhood and wonderful loving parents. They have a great deal of peace knowing that Harry and Sarah are together eternally and that they will see them again one day.

Lisa, Stephanie, Brian, Kyle, Jared, Steve and Brandon appreciate all of you who took the time out of your busy lives to celebrate and say goodbye to their parents, and grandparents and your loved ones. God Bless You!
