Harriet Joan Albright, 85, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, formerly of Milford, Iowa, beloved mother, grandmother and wife, was called home on January 21, 2016. Jo entered this world on May 30, 1930 in Sioux Rapids, Iowa, born to Resor and Maude Cowan.
Jo grew up in Spencer, Iowa and attended Reynolds Grade School. She was united in marriage to Merle Martin Albright on January 28, 1951. Together, they had three sons, Scott Martin, Brian Jay, and Rick Jo. In the early years, the family lived on F.A. Albright's farm in Hartley, Iowa. They eventually moved to Worthington, Minnesota. During that time, Merle worked in sales and Jo worked in the home, before moving to Spencer, Iowa and then to their farm in Milford, where the family raised quarter horses. In 1963, Jo started working at Ellerbroek's clothing store and became part owner. She operated the store until retiring at the age of 65. Jo is loved and treasured for her compassionate ways, straight forward attitude, exceptional house-keeping skills and for always being there for us all. She enjoyed playing cards, crafts, cooking, baking and being with her family.
Jo is lovingly remembered by her husband of 65 years, Merle; her three sons, Scott Albright, Brian and (Marie) Albright and Rick Albright; her two sisters, Pat Muller of Spencer, Iowa and Jan McCauley of Mason City, Iowa; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Blessed be her Memory.
