Harold Silverio Garcia, 86, beloved Father, Husband, Grandpa, Great Grandpa and Uncle, was called to heaven on October 11, 2023, surrounded with love by his family. He entered this world on July 30, 1937, in Fort Sumner, NM, born to Seferino and Annie Garcia.
Harold was born into a large family of 5 sisters and two brothers. He loved his hometown of Ft. Sumner where he played football and ran track for the Ft. Sumner Foxes and worked on the family farm and ranch alongside his family.
He moved to Albuquerque where he began working at Sandia National Laboratories in the mail room. He met and married Gloria Atler in 1958. While at Sandia he took a position with the security police force where he became a federal officer for the Department of Energy. The remainder of his career was dedicated to securing the National Laboratories, providing protection to dignitaries from all over the country, and was the Incident Commander and oversaw the Special Response Team. His leadership and contribution to national security made a lasting impact. In addition, he was a member of the Sandia Laboratories police pistol team where he competed all over the country. In 1986 he was a member of the four-man national championship team and in 1987 was the individual international champion. He retired after 40 years at Sandia as the Captain of Security.
By far his greatest achievements were the 4 children who he raised with his wife Gloria. He took great pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.
Not only did he enjoy competing in his pistol competitions, but he also enjoyed fishing, hunting, gunsmithing and in his later years loved spending his time at the casino playing the slots with his casino partner, daughter-in-law Jamie.
