Doctor Harold Wayne Partin, 82, passed away on March 21, 2025, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Harold was born on May 11, 1942, in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He pursued higher education with dedication, earning his bachelor's degree from Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico, and later obtaining his PhD from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. His academic journey laid the foundation for a lifelong commitment to education and mentorship.
Harold was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Owanda Partin; his sons Scott Partin, and Phillip, and his wife Jamie Partin; his grandchildren Chuck Partin, Samuel Partin, Maxwell Partin, Joshua Partin, and Abinet Partin; his great-grandson Gabriel Partin; and nephew Weldon Bratcher. He was predeceased by his parents, Audry and Tennie Partin, as well as his first wife and the mother of his children, Bettie Partin.
A man of deep faith, Harold was actively involved in church life and dedicated over 50 years to Gideons International. His passion for ministry led him to serve in jail ministries, school ministries, and hotel ministries. Through these efforts, he spread God's word both locally and internationally -- distributing Gideon Bibles as close as his own neighborhood and as far away as Guatemala and Israel.
Harold had a love for sports that extended beyond mere fandom-he meticulously followed baseball, football, and basketball statistics. His favorite teams were the New York Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys. He also passionately supported the universities where he worked and any students, he had who were playing at the time and throughout their careers.
An adventurous spirit at heart, Harold traveled extensively throughout all 50 states and visited 14 countries around the world. His life was filled with experiences that left lasting impressions on those who heard his stories-stories that often elicited a "WOW" from listeners. He believed that true adventure came from living fully and embracing every opportunity with faith and enthusiasm.
Above all else, Harold lived by a steadfast principle: God first, then family, then work. His unwavering faith guided him through life's challenges and triumphs alike. He was a faithful husband, a loving father, and a beloved friend to many. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him.
