Harold Halbig, age 83, a resident of Albuquerque died Sunday, April 2, 2017.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Patricia; sons, Randy Halbig and wife, Anita, Kevin Halbig and wife, Sarah, and Dana Halbig and wife, Katrina; three grandchildren, Aaron Halbig and wife, Courtney, Amber Halbig, and Emily Halbig; two great-grandchildren, Finnegan and Shepherd Halbig; sister, Cora Mae McKinley; nieces and nephews; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Harold was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathryn; his parents; sister, Mary Leach; and brothers, John Halbig and Wesley Halbig.
He was born in 1933 in Trinidad, CO to John and Stella Halbig and lived in California for about twenty years where he worked for Varian Associates. He and Kathryn moved to Santa Fe in 1979 where he worked for Los Alamos Labs until his retirement in 1993. Harold had a love for history and enjoyed fishing, gardening, and archery. His two dogs, Trish and Sydney, were very special to him. Harold was a very gentle, patient, and loving person. He had a very deep faith and love for God, demonstrating it by his life. Harold said, "I'd like to be remembered as a dear friend; as a defender, encouragement and help to young folks." He will be missed by all who knew him.
Friends may visit on Saturday, April 8, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. until a service at 2:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. Cremation will follow and a private ennichment will take place at a later date at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
