Harold Goldberg, age 76, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, July 2, 2021, after a yearlong battle with ALS and Dementia. He was born November 27, 1944, in Albuquerque, NM, and continued to live most of his life in New Mexico.
He loved many things but nothing more than his family, especially his loving wife of 54 years. Harold is survived by his wife, Gena; daughter, Rachel Canales, her husband, Glenn and their sons, Alexander, and Brendan; and son, Brad Goldberg, his wife, Danisha and their sons, Deegan and Kaeson. He was extremely proud of his entire family and was never shy about telling anyone that would listen.
Growing up Harold spent many days dreaming of riding dirt bikes on the local tracks and in the local mountains. At the age of 12, he began riding and racing and continued to do so almost weekly until riding became a little too much for him at 75. Harold was an expert on the local mountain trails and spent much of his life riding with his longtime friends. He loved taking his family on these same mountain trails and took tremendous pride in showing them the way.
Harold spent many years working in the automotive and motorcycle industry including owning his own dealership. For 18 years he served the motorcycle community with his business Weird Harold's Cycle Center and eventually Harold's Husqvarna. If you rode a motorcycle, chances are you knew Harold and if you didn't you definitely had heard of him.
When not riding, Harold was glued to the TV watching racing, whether it was motorcycles or cars: usually with a dog in his lap. He also was a long-time season ticket holder for the University of New Mexico Men's Basketball Team and spent many nights cheering on the Lobos. Something he shared with his mother, son, and daughter.
The term "dad joke" could have easily been created because of Harold. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and entertaining stories. He never shied away from being the life of the party, sometimes even demanding that the party be thrown on his behalf.
Harold lived a long, exciting, and adventurous life with many broken bones and lots of memories. He wanted to be remembered as an honest person. He accomplished this and many other things, especially being a loyal husband, father, and friend.
Please join us in celebrating Harold's life on Friday, July 16, 2021, 2:00 p.m. visitation and 3:00 p.m. service at FRENCH - Westside.
