Gwendola T. Tilley

Gwendola T. Tilley, age 81, of Los Lunas, NM passed away Thursday, August 9, 2018. She is survived by her two loving daughters, Karen Marberry and husband, Phillip; Kathy Tilley. She was a loving and proud grandmother to six grandchildren, Melissa Profitt and husband, Scott, Jennifer Marberry and husband, Daniel Johnson; Matthew Grindell, Jessica Grindell, Sarah Grindell, and Emily Grindell; and two great-grandchildren, Angelica and Samantha Profitt. She is also survived by her brothers, Douglas Turman, Raiford Turman, and wife, Evelyn, Julian Turman, and wife, Pearl; sister, Gonzalez Proffitt, and husband, Jim; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous other relatives and friends. She is also survived by her little companion dog, "Buddy". Gwendola was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Garland P. Tilley on November 13, 2010; her parents, Golden and Lillian Epperson Turman; brother, Roy Turman; and infant grandson Marberry. She was born in Meadows of Dan, Patrick County, VA in 1937. Gwendola was active in her community and was a member of first Baptist church of Los Chavez, and a Past Worthy Matron of Jessamine #45 OES. She proudly supported her husband as he served his country in the United States Air Force for over 20 years. She was a retiree of Digital Equipment Corporation and enjoyed gardening, caring for her roses, cooking, reading, sewing, quilting, and watching the cranes, finches, and hummingbirds in her yard. Friends and family are invited to a Visitation Wednesday, August 15, 2018, 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. at the FRENCH – Lomas Chapel. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:45 p.m.
