Our beloved parents, Guillermo (Gil) and Eustolia (Tola) Archibeque passed away after their battle with COVID-19. They were married for 57 years of marriage in Albuquerque, NM. Guillermo, 92, passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, and Eustolia followed him in death on Friday, December 10, 2021.
Guillermo was born in Albuquerque, NM, in 1929 to parents Gabrielita and Elias. Eustolia was born in Tanhuato Michoacán, MX, in 1941 to parents Josefina and Miguel.
Guillermo joined the Army Air Corps instead of attending high school in 1945 to support his family and country where he fought bravely in WWII. He was eventually stationed in Weisbaden, Germany. He served honorably until his retirement from the Air National Guard in 1989. He was fiercely patriotic and enjoyed talking to people, laughing, and joking. He loved New Mexico music and his grandchildren dearly and was always there for whomever needed him.
Eustolia was a devout mother and wife. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing as her mother did. She loved boleros and mariachi music and loved watching old Mexican movies at the cinema. She stayed connected to her family in Mexico, going back every year for most of her life.
Their whirlwind romance started through correspondence. They continued to build their relationship through the magic of words, until Guillermo proposed. Without ever having met, he traveled to Mexico, and on the second day after his arrival they were married and had their very first kiss as husband and wife.
They went on to raise five children, Denise (Wendy), Darlene, Michael, Guillda (Gigi), and Christal; 13 grandchildren, Amber, Jonathon, Gabby, Aimee, Paul, Josh, Brandon, Monae, Memo, Marieli, Xol, Ixchel, and Julian.
Inseparable even in death we will be holding a Rosary for Guillermo and Eustolia on Wednesday, December 29, 8:30 a.m, with a mass to follow at 9:00 a.m., at Saint Francis Xavier Church, 820 Broadway SE. Masks are mandatory.
