With much sadness we announce the passing of our dear Husband, Father, Grandpa, Tata.
Surrounded by his family, Bill passed into his eternal resting place with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on July 26, 2024.
Bill was born the 4th son to Mauricio and Eloisa Griego on June 8, 1939.
He is preceded in death by his daughters Nester Ann Romero and Pamela Griego Lee, his grandchildren Joseph and Esperanza Romero, brothers Abie, Bobby, Alfred, and his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Frances L. Griego, his children, Gilbert (Julie) Griego, Carla (Vince) Clark, Jerry Griego, Evangeline (Paul) Clemena, his grandchildren Brandon Clark, Heather (Sean) Martinez, Melissa (Tyler) Allman, Matthew Lee, Jessica (Steve) Lagoda, Chelsea (Paul) Herrera, Joseph Griego, Jeremy (Richelle) Clemena, Rafael Clemena, his great grandchildren, Donovan Gallegos, Mia Denton, Genesis Ramos, Gideon and Emersyn Lagoda, Azriel Lee, A.J. and Dominic Salazar, Riley and Reed Allman, and Isabella Clemena, brother Ernie (Priscilla) Griego, sister Maria Griego, and many nieces and nephews.
Bill graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1958, then went on to serve 4 years with the US Navy, spending most of his service as a Radio Man on the USS Coral Sea.
Bill retired from Sandia National Laboratory after 31 years in 1994.
Bill, a Parishioner of The Shrine of St. Bernadette, served as a Eucharistic minister for many years. He and Frances were awarded "Outstanding Parishioners of the month" in November 2009. He was a 3rd degree member of The Knights of Columbus.
Bill was a devoted, loving anchor, not only for his immediate family, but also for his extended family.
A Rosary will be recited at FRENCH - Wyoming on Monday August 12 at 5:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on August 13 at 10:00 AM at The Shrine of St. Bernadette, 11509 Indian School RD NE. Reception to follow at the Parish Hall. Bill will be laid to rest at The National Cemetery in Santa Fe at a later date.
His family would like to express their sincere appreciation to The Optum Palliative Supportive Staff, the Bosque Trails Hospice Staff, Anna Kaseman Hospice Staff, and Bear Canyon staff who cared for Bill with so much tenderness and love.
