Guadalupe Smith

SMITH, GUADALUPE "LUPE"Born on May 2, 1931 in San Fidel, New Mexico; passed from this world on August 23, 2012 surrounded by her family. Lorenzo and Clara Jaramillo raised Lupe in Cubero, New Mexico and she graduated from our Lady of Sorrows in Bernalillo in 1949. She met Louis Smith at a dance in 1953 when he was stationed here in the army. They married that same year and began raising a family shortly thereafter. Louis was in the Army for almost half of their life together and they traveled extensively with their 6 children throughout their career. Lupe met every challenge put before her as a military wife and loved her family above all else. Lupe is survived by her husband of 59 years, Louis. Lupe is also survived by many members of the rather large Jaramillo clan including her brother, Lorenzo Jaramillo, and Sisters Susie Soto, Mary Helen Lopez, and Marcella Baca. Her children Louis and wife Mona: Kathy Trujillo and husband Gerry; Maria Hockerson; Patrick Kevin and wife Lynnetta; Tim and wife Amy; and Michele Giacomo and husband Michael. Her grandchildren; Merlin Smith, Maaite Girdner, Jordan and Shelby Trujillo, Nick and Dillon Hockerson, Karly Gevas, Jasmine Ruth, Tim, Adam and Matthew Smith, Nicole Olivas, and Madison and Bianca Giacomo, and her great-grandchildren; Ian and Anna Girdner and Brooklyn Olivas. A Rosary will be recited Monday, August 27, 2012, 6:30pm at The Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School Rd NE, Albuquerque, NM. Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 28, 2012, 9:00am at The Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School Rd NE, Albuquerque, NM with a reception to follow. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00pm. Pallbearers will be Nicholas Hockerson, Dillon Hockerson, Adam Smith, Matthew Smith, Merlin Smith, Tim Smith, and Jordan Trujillo.
