Gregory R. Hensel, 59, of Tijeras, NM, passed away on May 24, 2021, at his residence. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Leigh Ann, and his son, Ryan.
He was born September 14, 1961, in Natrona Heights, PA to the late Robert F. and Audrey A. Hensel. Greg graduated from Deer Lakes High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland. Greg served proudly in the United States Air Force and was retired with honors that included deployment to Saudi Arabia during Desert Storm. Greg and his family returned to Albuquerque where he worked for Northrop Grumman for 21 years. Greg was a loving husband, father, friend, and faithful member of Holy Child Catholic Parish.
Additional survivors are sisters, Deborah Kyle of Colorado Springs, CO, Cynthia Sholly of Soldotna, AK, Diane Hensel of Gibsonia, PA, sister-in-law Cheryl Steinberg of Westminster, CO; brother-in-law, Gary Sholly of Soldotna, AK; nieces, Rachel Steinberg and Victoria Steinberg of Westminster, CO, Amanda Barber of Soldotna, AK; nephews Brian Sholly of Palmer, AK and Gregory Sholly of South Berwick, ME.
A Rosary will be recited at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 5, 2021, followed by the Mass of the Resurrection at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Child Catholic Church, Tijeras NM.
Burial will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at 9:45 a.m.
