Grady Lee Ramsey passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 74 on Monday, July 8, 2024, with his wife, children and grandchildren around him.
Grady was born on Thursday, March 30, 1950, in Eufaula Alabama, to Dewey and Colleen Ramey. He was very proud to be from Alabama but fell in love with what would become his adopted home state, New Mexico and its green Chile, after he visited here in the early 1970's. Even if it was too dry and very much lacking water for his taste. However, the real reason he adopted this state as his own was because it is where he met the love of his life who became his beautiful bride of 51 love filled years; and also, it is where he started and raised his family.
Grady was a 'Jack of all Trades' and achieved and mastered many different titles, roles and accolades over his years. He was a professional musician, playing trumpet in several professional brass bands and jazz groups. He was a brick mason, electrician, construction worker, and mailman. He ultimately retired as a station manager for the US Postal Service. He then went on to be a business owner and master home builder, creating and building custom homes. However, the roles and titles that he was most proud of and meant everything to him was that as a U.S. Marine Corp veteran, devote Christian and most of all dedicated family man. But him being known as a Loving, Devoted and Passionate Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, and for being a protector and provider for those he loved, meant more to Grady than everything else combined. It should be known that out of all his great achievements and accomplishments in life, that last one, as a loving and caring family man was by far the one, he excelled at the most.
There is not one person who ever got to know Grady who was not affected, changed or improved by knowing him. He touched and bettered the lives of everyone he knew and loved. We can all take solace in the fact that Grady is in heaven with his Lord. Surrounded by his loved ones that preceded him in death. Also, that he is fishing each and every lake, pond, river and stream that he can find in heaven, patiently waiting to be rejoined by the rest of us when the Lord says it is our time to do so.
