Gordon Post, age 87, died on December 12, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Christel; sisters, Carol Post of Denville, NJ and Sue Fenske of Lake Parsippany, NJ.
Gordon was born July 24, 1930 in East Orange, NJ and grew up and attended schools in West Orange and Livingston, NJ. He graduated from Syracuse University in June of 1952 and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. After his Air Force service of two years, including serving as Post Exchange officer at Fifth Air Force Headquarters in Taegu, Korea, he returned to New Jersey to operate family book and greeting card stores in various northern NJ towns. In January of 1972, he married Christel Mueller of San Francisco. They took up residence in Denville, NJ where she took part in operation of the family business.
Gordon became a Lion when he joined the Denville Lions Club in 1960 and was an active member and dedicated Lion for over 56 years. He was president of the Maplewood Lions Club in 1972 and served as International Director to Lions International from 1985 to 1987, traveling throughout the U.S., Asia, and Britain as a representative of Lions Clubs International. From 1990 to 1993, he was Lions Representative to the United Nations in New York. In 1993, he and Christel sold their remaining businesses and moved from Denville to Albuquerque where Gordon was a member of the Albuquerque Northeast Lions Club.
Gardening has been a favorite pastime and Gordon was proud of his backyard rose garden.
Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at FRENCH – Wyoming.
