Gordon Eli Beardsley, 78, beloved by many, was called home to the creator on Thursday, September 2, 2021. He was born on Wednesday, September 23, 1942, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, born to Raymond and Edith Beardsley. He is survived by his wife, Anna Beardsley from their home in Bosque Farms; brother, Daniel Beardsley of Pawnee, Oklahoma; sisters, Margaret (Hubert) Becenti of Tohatchi, New Mexico and Mary Beardsley of Albuquerque, New Mexico; his children, Kim Lovely-Peake (Greg) and Michael Lovely (Hollie); grandchildren, Kendall and Tyler; close friends James and Monica Gutierrez; and many nieces, nephews and a host of others. He was preceded in death by his two children, Jonathan Eli Beardsley and Morning Starr Beardsley; his father; mother; brothers, Donald Dean Rouwalk, Norman Charles, and Clinton Rush Beardsley; aunt, Margaret; and uncle, Dick Carrillo of Seama.
Gordon was a lifelong resident of New Mexico, residing, raising a family, working, and retiring from the Bureau of Indian Affairs as Administrative Officer. He earned his bachelor’s degree from UNM.
After his honorable discharge from the Marines, he married Alberta Howard with two children from that union. Thereafter, he married Anna Marie Nofchissey, his wife of 35 years, up until his death.
Gordon was a proud member of both the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma, as well as the Laguna Pueblo. Gordon was a three-time recipient of the Purple Heart for combat service. He served two tours in Vietnam in the United States Marine Corps. His armed service record includes National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Purple Heart, and Presidential Unit Citation. Gordon served as a Pawnee Scout emulating his Great grandfather, Pawnee Nation Chief Rush Roberts, who served as Scout in the Civil War (Union army).
A Wake will take place on Thursday, September 9, 2021, 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., at FRENCH- University. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 10, 2021, 3:00 p.m., at FRENCH- University
