Goldie Lieberman

May 31, 1926 — October 19, 2013

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, our "Golden Girl" passed away at age 87 on October 19, 2013. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 31, 1926 to Max and Rose Friedman. She attended Hutchins Primary School and Central High School. Goldie worked from the time she was 12 until her retirement at 67. During World War II, she worked the midnight shift at the Ford Motor Company, inspecting bullet cartridges. Goldie worked in the banking industry for over twenty years and became the first woman to become an assistant manager for Bank of the Commonwealth. After moving to Albuquerque, she worked in the business office of Lovelace Health Care and earned national recognition by winning the Dr. Frist Humanitarian Award for her work on behalf of patients needing help with medical expenses. After retiring from Lovelace, Goldie and her husband, Vern traveled the world, taking cruises to the far corners of the globe. She was very involved with the Jewish War Veterans and did fundraising on behalf of veterans at the VA. Goldie loved her family and took great joy in each day, as she would always sing "I've got the whole world in my hands." She was a terrific dancer, loved sports and fashion. She was a powerful life force and will be greatly missed by her husband, B. Vern Lieberman; sisters, Sonia Laksberger, Freda Grossman and husband, Carl; children, Rose Berlin-Ostrovitz and husband, David, Dr. Barry Berlin and wife, Adele, Peggy Ann Lieberman-Ziegler and Gary Lieberman; grandchildren, Romy Belton and husband, Reid, Ari Davies and husband, Emory, Shana Ostrovitz, Lenny Ostrovitz, Niki Berlin, Cary Berlin, Jason Ziegler and wife, Amy, Dale Ziegler and wife, Stephanie, Aaron Ziegler, Mara Hawkins and husband, Nathaniel; great-grandchildren, Edynn Davies, Jacob Ziegler, Morgan Ziegler, Milo Ziegler and another due in March. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, 1:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, 700 Yale Blvd SE. We will always keep her in our hearts and think of her when we see and feel the golden rays of the sun.
