Age 82, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, October 3, 2012. She is survived by husband, of 58 years, Brig. Gen. George Treadwell of Albuquerque, NM; children, David M. Treadwell of Albuquerque, NM, Paul E. Treadwell of Phoenix, AZ, Claudia M. Cooper of Bosque Farms, NM, Monica A. Treadwell of San Tan Valley, AZ, and Michael A. Treadwell and wife, Peggy of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Brian, Rande, Dominic and Austin; great grandchildren, Leyla, Amelia and Apollo. She was preceded in death by her parents, David A. and Carmen Silva. Gloria was born in Taos but raised in Santa Fe. She lost her mother at the age of two, her father at the age of fourteen, and her brother soon after. She had to become self-sufficient and on her own and was resourceful, intelligent, and very creative. As a result of her childhood, she became very compassionate to others in need. She moved to Albuquerque and started her college career in home economics. She also trained in Gerontology. Gloria was a member of Our Lady of the Annunciation Parish. She enjoyed swimming which she did daily. Mrs. Treadwell was a very talented seamstress and loved to cook even winning the first prize for green chile and Best of Show at the NM state fair. Gloria loved people and was always volunteering. She was a Red Cross volunteer at the base pharmacy and a volunteer at the base thrift shop for over twenty five years. She volunteered for years with the Albuquerque Convention and Visitors Bureau as a Kachina Greeter. Her life was spent in service to others. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend and she will be dearly missed. A Rosary will be recited Sunday, October 7, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at French Lomas Chapel. A Mass will be celebrated Monday, October 8, 2012 at 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Annunciation Parish, 2621 Vermont NE. Entombment will take place at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum following services. Friends may visit one hour prior to the reciting of the Rosary on Sunday night.
