Gloria Ann Jackson (Lujan), beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away suddenly at her home in Albuquerque on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at the age of 85. She was born October 13, 1937 in Albuquerque, NM to Jose Leandro Lujan and Anita Garcia of Torreon, NM and Manzano, NM. Her life was filled with her devotion and love for her family. She was married in 1957 and had 7 children in 9 years, to whom she was committed to raising and nurturing first and foremost.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Faustina Lujan, Cecilia Lujan, Helen Chavez, and Immelda Lucero; and brothers, Pete Lujan and Frank Lujan; and grandson, Jerome Smullen. She is survived by her brothers, Randolph (Lorella) and Joe Lujan. Her family legacy includes her 7 children, Carmen, Frank (Regina), Alfred, Donald (Angie), Marie Annette Ortega (David), Jeffrey, and Lawrence (Carol); 13 grandchildren, Danielle, Lea Cierah (Zach), Dominic (Yvette), Francesca (Carlos), Jonathan, Anjelica, Nadine (Matthew), Nathan, Anthony, Shyann (Arturo), Joseph, Adrianna, and Samantha; 14 great-grandchildren, Lilyanna, Janessa, Monique, Destiny, Dominic Jr., Maranda, Amber, Isabella, Matthew Jr., Dominic, Alondra, Aurelie, Lucia, and Diana; and 1 great-great-grandson, Elias.
Gloria had a devoted Catholic upbringing, she and her siblings attended St. Francis Catholic school in Albuquerque in her early years, and she graduated from Albuquerque High in 1956. Her devotion and trust in God guided her life of hard work and honesty. Her strong values and character were a big influence on how she raised her family. She modeled selflessness and sacrifice as she put her family first before her own needs. She taught all of her family how to be kind, compassionate, and great human beings by being a role model to all of those who were blessed to be around her. She was the heart of her family and she will be greatly missed.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 1860 Griegos Rd. NW. Please use the San Isidro entrance, the main entrance on Griegos is closed. A Rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m., with a reception to follow at the church reception hall. Food and flowers may be delivered to the hall starting at 8:00 a.m.
