On the night of Sunday, September 17, 2023, we lost Gloria G. Dominguez. As she made her way on the path to the rainbow's end, she joined her brothers, Billy, Anselmo, and Rudy; sister, Rosie; mother and father, Lena and Rudolfo; aunt, Angelita; grandparents, Epifanio and Agapita and Ramoncita; and nieces, Cindy, and Tahnee.
In the stillness of remembering her, Gloria leaves behind her husband of forty-two years, Manuel; her sister, Judy and husband, Abenicio; sisters-in-law, Alicia and husband, Roland, Annie, and Emily. Auntie Non also leaves behind 13 nieces and nephews and their families, which include 32 great-nieces and nephews. Gloria also leaves her dog, Bear, and many turtles behind, Moose, Mrytle, and Elvis to name a few.
Gloria ruled her life like a bird in flight, full speed and unapologetically. She was born November 9, 1947, and spent most of her childhood in La Jara, NM. Gloria attended St. Pius X High School and graduated in 1964. It was rumored that she was involved in a few antics while in high school, but those stories cannot be confirmed. She used her brilliant mind and attended the University of New Mexico. Afterwards, Gloria worked for TransAmerica Insurance for many years as a Bonded Underwriter; and was a respected member of her team.
In addition to Gloria's passion of caring for rescue dogs and turtles, she enjoyed driving her Thunderbird cars. She was very proud of the care she gave them and the near new condition they are both in after so many years. We can still hear "Fleetwood Mac" coming out of her speakers. Gloria also enjoyed bowling and had fun participating in a league for several years.
Auntie Non's independence was her trademark that she taught to three generations of women. She loved and admired her Grandfather Epifanio fiercely and wanted to keep his legacy and vision of familia and hard work going for many more generations. We can still hear her saying to never break the chains and for us to stay together as the Gutierrez Family.
We wish to thank all the medical personnel who made her last few weeks of fighting as comfortable as possible, but we especially want to express our gratitude to Robynn, Andie, Alexandra, and Benjamin. Gloria's memory is all that is left for us now so we will try to pick up the pieces and go home.
A Mass will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Byzantine Catholic Church, 1837 Alvarado Dr. NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87110. A Rosary will be recited Saturday, October 7, 2023, 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Santo Nino Catholic Church in La Jara, New Mexico 87027. Burial will follow at the Santo Nino Catholic Church Cemetery.
