Gloria Chacon

GLORIA B. CHACONA resident of Grants, NM, passed away after a lengthy illness in Albuquerque, NM on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at age 75. Gloria was born to Alfonso and Virginia Chacon in Miami, AZ on June 9, 1937. Gloria is survived by her mother and care giver, Virginia of Grants, NM. She is also survived by her sisters, Pauline Bova and husband Lou of Albuquerque, NM, Ramona Pena and husband Johnny of Houston, TX, Vera McBride and husband Richard of Albuquerque, NM; her nieces, Ivanna Shipman and Andrea Ewert; her nephews, Aaron and Gordon Pena and Enrico Bova; as well as several grand-nephews and nieces. She is also survived by an uncle and many aunts and cousins. Gloria is preceded in death by her father Alfonso B. Chacon. Gloria is a retired school teacher who taught elementary grades in Concordia, KS, Chicago, IL, Silver City, NM and she taught for 25 years in the Grants school system in Grants, NM. Pallbearers will be Aaron Pena, Gordon Pena, Enrico Bova, Adam Ewert, Dominic Ewert, John Michael Shipman and Jeremy Ewert. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ivanna Shipman and Andrea Ewert. The family wishes to thank everyone for their prayers and support at this time. Special thanks to Cibola General Hospital, Grants Silver Lining, Grants Senior Center, Grants Dialysis Center, Casa Angelina, Ambercare Hospice and Presbyterian Hospice in Albuquerque. Rosary will be recited on Thursday, August 9, 2012, at 9:30 a.m., with Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church in Grants, with burial at Grants Memorial Park.
