Glinnie Sue (Hill) Thompson

Glinnie Sue Thompson, known as “Sue” by all that knew her, aged 85, went to be with the Lord on November 10, 2018 in Rio Rancho, NM. Sue was born on January 24, 1933 in Anniston, Alabama. Sue married her husband of 53 years, David Thompson, on May 23, 1952. Sue was an Air Force wife, and later an Army wife of 22 years. Sue and David had three overseas assignments in Germany and numerous assignments in the United States. As a young girl, along with her brothers and sisters, Sue picked cotton with their father who owned a cotton farm. Sue loved people and working. She worked throughout her adult life. She was a longtime volunteer at the Eastern New Mexico Medical Center Thrift Shop. She had numerous hobbies, but her true love was ceramics and playing games, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She was also an avid reader.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Henry O. Hill and Lottie Mae Hill, nee Waddell, Mary Ernestine “Ernie” Callahan (sister), Bernice Lee and Orville Rochester (sister and brother-in-law), James H. and Betty Hill (brother and sister-in-law), Ruben Sherman Hill (brother), Franklin Dee and Molly Hill (brother and sister-in-law), and Harold Thomas (Tommy) Hill (brother), and Kay Thompson (daughter-in-law).

Sue is survived by William “Bill” R. and Peggy Hill (brother and sister-in-law) of Las Cruces, NM and Emily Hill (sister-in-law), wife of Harold Thomas Hill of Alabama. Sue is survived by three children, Joyce and her husband, Art of Rio Rancho, NM, David W. Thompson of Dexter, NM, and Deborah “Debbie” Thompson of Harker Heights, TX. She is survived by five grandchildren, BJ and Joy Gottlieb (granddaughter-in-law), Misty Gottlieb, Amanda Thompson, Jennifer Thompson, and David W. Thompson, Jr.

She is also survived by her foster daughter, Rebecca Beam and foster granddaughters, Cassie and Sabrina. Sue has three great-grandchildren; three foster great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mom we love you so much and will miss you so until we meet again.

Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at FRENCH-Rio Rancho Chapel. Interment will be at Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at 11:15 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N. Guadalupe St. Santa Fe, NM.
