Glenn Eugene Smith

d. November 25, 2018

Glenn E Smith, a loving father to Robyn and husband to his wife of 62 years, Ann, passed away on November 25, 2018. Born November 17, 1929 in Cheyenne, Wyoming into an old pioneer family: his father, George’s family from Wyoming, while his mother, Ruth’s (Davis) family homesteaded in southern Colorado. Immediately after graduating High School, Glenn enlisted in the US Air Force where he served at Spokane, Washington during the Korean conflict. Glenn came to Albuquerque in the 1950’s and began his career with Mountain Bell Telephone and Telegraph, where he met his wife Ann Ellen. (Lee) After early retirement in 1982, Glenn became a volunteer for the Garden Center – he loved his garden where he and Ann Ellen grew many species of flowers that earned awards for Glenn at the Garden Center and New Mexico State Fair and used by Ann Ellen for her award-winning flower arrangements. He served two terms as President of The New Mexico Arts and Craft Fair, belonged to the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and was a Telephone Credit Union Pioneer at “Ma Bell.” Glenn was famous among friends and neighbors for his homemade cheese logs at Christmas time, not to mention his delicious homegrown tomatoes! He will be missed by his daughter Robyn and son in law Rex Russell. The family would like to thank Beehive of Bernalillo for all their help, especially Christiana Lopez, who assisted Glenn with settling in. “Good night sweet prince, and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest!” No flowers please, but do donate to the charity of your choice in remembrance of Glenn.
