Glen Earl Jones

March 5, 1933 — January 18, 2025

Glen Earl Jones, 91, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2025, at his home in Albuquerque, NM surrounded by his two children.

He is survived by his children, Ken Jones and wife, Natalie, and Karen McKinley; his grandchildren, Erin Higgs and husband, Darren, Laura Gershin and husband Joe, and Kevin Jones and wife, Jenny; and his great- grandchildren: Krista, Natalie, Cole, Garrett, Ali, George, and Teddy. He is also survived by his brother, Lendal Jones and wife Lucille, and his sister Shirley Weaver and Pauline Hitt.

Born on March 5, 1933, in Shattuck, Oklahoma, he grew up in Penrose, Colorado before moving to Santa Fe during his senior year of high school. He married the love of his life, Frances McCown, on January 12, 1957. Together, Glen and Fran built a life filled with love and creativity. Their 58-year marriage was a testament to their deep bond until Fran's passing in 2015. Glen proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He spent over 30 years working for Mountain Bell until retiring at age 49. After retiring, he started a handyman business until he and Fran moved to Tijeras, NM where they built their home.

Glen's passions extended to woodworking, gardening, and brewing his own beer. When asked what he was working on, he often said he was "peddling", a playful way of describing his endless projects. Whether framing artwork, building something, or tending to his garden, Glen was never one to sit idle. Both Glen and Fran painted pictures and were active in the Watercolor Society of Albuquerque. Anyone who met Glen fell in love with his dry sense of humor and selfless nature.

Glen was deeply loved by his family, friends, and neighbors. We are proud and blessed to have called him our father, grandfather, and great- grandfather. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. A Celebration of Life will take place in the spring.
