Turner, Gladys
Dr. Gladys Turner Bork passed away December 27, 2017 at 93 years young. Gladys loved to travel the world and was visiting her daughter in Missouri at the time of her passing. She was energetic and active and brought youthful exuberance to any conversation.
Gladys loved people and conversing with everyone. In her retirement, she worked on cruise ships as an entertainer and destination expert as a way to travel the world and meet people.
Gladys was born at home in the small town of Heislerville, NJ on December 20, 1924. She married her true love, Preston, upon graduating from high school and together they raised 3 daughters until his untimely death in 1964. Gladys went to Glassboro State College and became a teacher, vice principal, principal and finally a professor in Alaska. Dr. Turner earned her Ph.D. at the age of 55.
Gladys is preceded in death by her husband, Preston Turner, her daughter Kathleen (Robert) Boyd, and her son-in-law Robert Danley. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Craig) Bird, and Ruth Ann Danley, her son-in-law, Robert Boyd, her grandchildren Rebecca (Craig) Fedewa, Amanda Boyd, Chari (Craig) Bird, Trennon (Catherine) Bird, Kialynn (Joseph) Olivarez, Robert (Angela) Danley, Jr., and Rylina (James) Thomassee, and 11 great-grandchildren (with her 12th on the way).
A memorial celebration will be held at 2:30pm at FRENCH –Westside.
