Gladys G. Hardin, age 97, joined her Heavenly Father and her beloved husband, CF Hardin Jr., on Saturday, January 30, 2021, following a very brief illness. Gladys was born February 19, 1923, in Chambers County, AL.
The family soon moved to Roanoke, AL, where she was one of seven children born to John D., and Annie Mae Green Gooden. She married CF Hardin Jr. on June 1, 1947, and spent most of her adult life in Macon, GA, where she managed Stephens Suburban Ladies Dress Shop and worked at the Ocmulgee Art Gallery prior to retiring. Upon the death of CF in 2004, Gladys moved to Albuquerque, NM, to live with her daughter and to be close to her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Hardin Rycroft and husband, Jack of Albuquerque; her sister, Ruth Gooden Nichols also of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Sara Miles Gooden of Opelika, AL, and several nieces and nephews.
Gladys was blessed with two grandsons and five great-grandchildren:
Billy Rycroft of Frisco, TX, wife Marisa Munn Rycroft, and their daughters, Morgan, and Taylor Rycroft; Erich Rycroft of Austin, TX, wife Stephanie Day Rycroft, their two daughters, Ashley and Marjorie, and son, Erich William Rycroft.
Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, no services will take place at this time. Instead, a Graveside ceremony will be scheduled for a later date in Macon, GA.
