At GGertrude Pentheny Fraser of Albuquerque, NM, and longtime resident of Verona Island, ME, died on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at the age of 102.
Gertrude was a pediatric nurse at Boston Floating Hospital, and enlisted in the Army in 1942, serving returning soldiers stateside. After the war, she returned to civilian nursing practice, completing her Bachelor of Science—Nursing degree at Boston University. She served as a Health Educator and School Nurse in Portland and Yarmouth schools before her retirement. She was married to James C. Fraser for nearly 60 years until his death in 2010. She resided in Maine through her 100th birthday. Throughout her life she enjoyed travel, knitting, and all of the Boston sports teams (especially the Red Sox).
She is survived by three children and six grandchildren: Douglas Fraser, and his children, Andrew, Colin, and Annaleah, all of Boulder Creek, CA; Judith Fraser, of Orland, ME, and her children, TJ Belton and his wife, Sarah of Kittery, ME, Daniel Belton and his wife, Amanda of Beacon Falls, CT, and Roger Belton of Auburn, ME; and Kenneth Fraser and his husband, Ronald Kamann of Albuquerque, NM.
At her request, there will be no formal services.
