Gerrold M. "Jerry" Bowley

January 29, 1938 — May 1, 2017

Gerrold M. “Jerry” Bowley, also known as “Catfish,” was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who led a simple and peaceful life. When Jerry was younger, he told his elementary school teacher he wanted to drive “big trucks” when he grew up. He got his wish, and worked his entire life as a truck driver. Jerry took pride in his career, earning many awards for being a safe truck driver. He worked many years for Wiley’s Enterprises, Sandia Laboratories and Werner’s Enterprises, where he retired in 2004.

Jerry was born and raised in Whitefish, Montana. As a child, UFOs were a big deal and he loved sleeping in the forest with his friends and looking for UFOs in the dark sky. As an adult, Jerry moved to New Mexico, where he met and married his wife of 52 years, Annabelle Bowley. He loved the warm weather of New Mexico, but always said he missed the cold Montana winters, “like a toothache.”

Jerry will be remembered most for his generosity, his love for family and his faith and love for the Lord. He will also be remembered for his passion and love for fishing and gardening. He loved to tend his garden of vegetables, fruit trees and flowers, but he especially took pride in his animals. Jerry owned chickens, goats, pigs, geese, turkeys, ducks, rabbits and cows. His all-time favorite animal was his horse, “Molly.” Jerry even had a pet fish pond in the backyard which he dug and filled himself. He was also the proud original owner of a vintage Harley Davidson motorcycle and family-sized fishing boat. He spent many vacations with his family camping and boating in lakes throughout New Mexico.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Annabelle Bowley, and their four daughters, JoAnn Medina and husband Ed Medina, Gunda Siska and husband Scott Siska, Judy Bowley and Melva Jean Repik and husband Jason Repik. Jerry is also survived by his grandchildren, Jocelyn Medina, Larissa Luce and husband Pat Luce, Anna Medina, Denver Medina, Baby Kelly, Jerred Siska, Marshall Siska, Joshua Repik and Samuel Repik.

Jerry’s parents were Allen Denver Bowley and Gunda Cornelia Bolstad. His eldest brother is the late Allen Denver Bowley. Jerry is survived by his second eldest brother, Tom Bowley, and younger sister, Trudy Lockhart.

Jerry was surrounded by his family his entire life and he passed away peacefully in his sleep while holding his family’s hands on May 1, 2017, at 2:42 p.m. He will be forever loved and cherished.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at FRENCH – Westside. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102.
