Geraldine Lane Shipler

Geraldine Lane Shipler, age 83, was a beautiful, strong, kind, loving person who went to heaven on Saturday, February 5, 2022, in Albuquerque, NM. Gerry was born April 28, 1938, in Ebony, Texas to Carl and Mildred Lane in the same home her mother was born in.

Some of her fondest memories are of her happy childhood with her family in Christoval and Menard. Geraldine started high school in Menard, TX, where she was football queen, later attending school in Strawn, TX and finally in San Angelo, TX. Gerry moved to Hobbs, New Mexico in 1960 and called Hobbs home for 59 years. She had many talents, was a bookkeeper for over forty years, and enjoyed raising thoroughbred horses with her partner V. J. Callaway.

Gerry loved her family and friends above all else and was full of laughter and kindness. Gerry also had great strength and overcame many difficult challenges with grace. Gerry was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Midge Lane, her brother Johnny Bruce Crowder, her sister Vivian Lane McKee, and her longtime partner V. J. Callaway. Gerry is survived by her daughter, and son-in-law Martha and Roger Jones, daughter, Brenda Flinn; son, and daughter-in-law Terry and Deena Shipler, son, and daughter-in-law Jamey and Shari Shipler; her brother, Jesse Carl Crowder; grandchildren, Melanie and John Davis, Corey and Jennifer Jones, Derek Alves, Justin Shipler, Shelby and Felicia Shipler, Brandon Shipler, and Meagan and Eddie Bonsu, seven great-grandchildren which she liked to be called Grandma-Great for. She also leaves many cherished nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Viewing will be held Wednesday, February 16, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Westside.

The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 2:30 p.m., followed by a reception, at First United Methodist Church, 200 E. Snyder St, in Hobbs, NM.
