Geraldine Maxine Roggenkamp Keating, age 90, died at her home of natural causes on January 24, 2022, in Albuquerque New Mexico.
Mrs. Keating was born in Wamego Kansas on October 9, 1931, to Otto John Roggenkamp and Johanna Fina Maskil Roggenkamp. She graduated from Wheaton High School in 1949. She was raised on the family farm near Wheaton Kansas and lived there until her marriage.
Mrs. Keating married Louis Anthony Keating on May 5,1956 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Wheaton Kansas. Throughout their marriage, they lived in Lincoln Nebraska, Denver Colorado, Ft. Worth Texas, Wichita Kansas, Kansas City Kansas, Omaha Nebraska, Upper Marlboro Maryland, Clovis New Mexico, Oklahoma City Oklahoma, and Albuquerque New Mexico.
Mrs. Keating was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She and her husband instilled in their children the values of love of God, family, church, community service, and education. She attended Clovis Community College in her midlife and was an A student. She was a voracious reader of mystery novels and an astute puzzle solver. She enjoyed crossword, jumble, word search and Sudoku up until her last days.
Mrs. Keating was an active member of many Catholic parishes during her long life. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Clovis New Mexico and John XXIII Catholic Community in Albuquerque New Mexico a combined total of 51 years.
Mrs. Keating was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Louis. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Terrence Eugene Keating. She was preceded in death by her parents and all her six siblings, Marcellus Roggenkamp, Joseph Roggenkamp, Leona Roggenkamp Berges, Jerome Roggenkamp, Margaret Roggenkamp Annan, and Paul Roggenkamp.
Mrs. Keating is survived by six children and their families, Julia Keating (David Ehrhart), Albuquerque New Mexico, Susan Keating Fitch, Albuquerque New Mexico, Louis Keating, Jr., Albuquerque, New Mexico, John Keating, Santa Cruz, California, Teresa Keating (Keith Dickerson), Grand Junction Colorado, and Mary Keating (Ian Lawlor), San Francisco California. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Todd Fitch, Brian Ehrhart (Sarah Ehrhart), Mark Ehrhart (Susan Muraida), Lauren Fitch Jones (Dominic Jones), Megan Ehrhart (Ryan Kinney), Sarah Keating Hammon (Grant Hammon), Joshua Keating, Haley Keating, Roger Keating, and Sophia Dickerson. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Lois Roggenkamp, Wheaton Kansas, Patricia Keating Micheletti (Norman Micheletti), Blue Springs Missouri, and Rose Marie Keating (Jim Brauer), Albuquerque New Mexico. She is also survived by two brothers-in-law, Michael Keating (Jane Keating), Marysville Kansas, and Jerry Nordhus, Shawnee Kansas. She is also survived and remembered fondly by many nieces, nephews, and their families.
Memorials are suggested for Albuquerque Public Library Foundation in Albuquerque New Mexico or Roadrunner Food Bank in Albuquerque New Mexico. A private funeral Mass and burial will be held at a later date.
