Geraldine Lucy Arviso

Geraldine was born in Gallup, NM on July 21, 1959 to Perry and Preciliana (Prissy) Schanefelt and left to her heavenly home on August 11, 2020 where she was greeted by her dad, Perry Schanefelt.

Geraldine retired from Bureau of Indian Affairs Navajo Agency Facility Management after 33 years and 9 months in June of 2019. For 29 of those years she was able to work side by side with her dad. She graduated from Gallup High School and New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. At 19, through NMSU, Geraldine was able to live and work in Guam for 8 months.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her dad, Perry H. Schanefelt, maternal grandparents John B. and Mayme Martinez and paternal grandparents Lucy and Alzie Schanefelt; her mother in law Ernestine Arviso and father in law Olsen Arviso, Sr.

She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 25 years, “Mister” Olsen Arviso, Jr., daughter Maura Schanefelt and grandson “Boy” Haiden Schanefelt, a freshman at Rehoboth Christian School, daughters Tyler-Brooks Arviso, a senior at NMSU in Las Cruces, and Autumn a senior at Middle College High School, son, Jonathon, and wife Jamie and grandson James, and daughter Brianne Arviso.

Geraldine is also survived by her mother, Preciliana “Prissy” Schanefelt. Geraldine was the oldest of 5 sisters, she is survived by sisters: Alexandra Lopez, and husband Paul Lopez, sons Aaron and Justin; Sylviana Gonzales, husband Vicente Gonzales, sons Hunter and Jerome; Bernadine Schanefelt; Jacqueline Ramirez, and husband Jobe Ramirez, sons Ryan Schanefelt, Taylor Ramirez and daughter Jobilyn Ramirez.

Geraldine loved Gallup and was active in her community. She was daughter Maura’s Girl Scout Troop Leader between 1997-2004 with Jeanette Butler. She was active in Soroptomist with her mom Prissy and tia Sylvia Analla. And was President of the Gallup Chapter for 2 years. She planned bake sales and worked tirelessly for Festival of Trees making it a success for many years. Geraldine had full faith in God. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, cooking and baking with her daughters, and never letting anyone forget she is the boss.

Pallbearers are Jobe Ramirez, Vicente Gonzales, Ryan Schanefelt, Taylor Ramirez and Haiden Schanefelt.
