Gerald (Gerry) Piech

Gerald (Gerry) Piech passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2017 after battling a lengthy illness.

Born on November 20, 1950 in Buffalo, NY to Frank and Loretta Piech, he is survived by his wife of 43 years Paula, of Albuquerque, along with sons, David of  Houston, TX and Philip of San Diego, CA. He was preceded in death by his son, Andrew in 2009.  Gerry is also survived by his brothers, Frank of Fort Wayne, IN and Terry of Lockport, NY.

Gerry was born and raised in Buffalo, NY where he received his BS in accounting from Canisus College in 1972.  He moved to Albuquerque in 1973 where he worked for the Internal Revenue Service. After a stint in private accounting at Rogoff, Diamond and Walker from 1983-1991 he returned to the IRS where he retired in 2005.

Gerry loved the outdoors and was an avid climber, hiker, camper and golfer. He was involved with the New Mexico Mountain Club and New Mexico Search and Rescue and loved taking his sons hiking and camping each summer. Gerry was also very involved with Daybreakers Toastmasters for several years.

Friends may visit Tuesday, October 3, 2017, 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas.  Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, October 4, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at St. John XXIII Catholic Church, 4831 Tramway Ridge Dr. NE.  Interment will be Friday, October 6, 2017, 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd.
