Gerald’s nickname, given to him by his brother Bob, was Good Jerry – a nickname he would spend a lifetime embodying. Jerry was a man who valued people, relationships, and family over everything else (although he had a hard time passing up a good deal at Costco when he saw one). He showed us that true strength comes from selflessness, generosity, and humor – even in the most trying times.
Jerry lost his battle with cancer on the morning of August 7, 2021, with his wife Carol by his side and children close by as he crossed into heaven where he was greeted by his siblings and parents.
Jerry was born on November 22, 1941, to Sylvester “Smokey” Schroer and Jenny Schroer in Great Falls, Montana. He then met the love of his life Carol while attending the college of Great Falls and they were married on August 24, 1963. Together they had four children, Thomas, Cindy, Jennifer, and Jerry along with eight grandchildren – Christopher, Katie. Kamden, Sophie, Jaime, Reed, Noah, and Sam. He loved golf and spent countless days playing with his kids, grandchildren, and friends at his home course of Albuquerque Country Club.
Jerry was an entertainer, provider, and patriarch to his family – he will always be remembered for his contagious smile, which he wore seemingly nonstop, his beautiful flowing golf swing, and the way he treated everyone with love, fairness, and respect.
Jerry is survived by his wife Carol; brother Donnie; all his children, grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jerry’s celebration of life will be held via zoom with the time and date still yet to be determined. Final details will be posted to family and friends on Facebook. All are welcome to join and share their favorite stories and memories of our beloved Good Jerry. Please visit our online guestbook for Jerry at www.FrenchFunerals.com.
