Gerald "Jerry" Hokanson

HOKANSON, GERALD "JERRY" GENE Age 86, a resident of Albuquerque since 1993, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marilyn L. Hokanson; children, James Hokanson and wife, Debra, Thomas Hokanson and wife, Joan, David Hokanson and wife, Brenda, Terese Martinez and husband, David, Shawn Hokanson and wife, Laura Kennedy, and Jennifer Lind; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Kennon and husband, Ray; and numerous other relatives and friends. Jerry was born in Minneapolis, MN in 1927 and moved to Taos, NM with his family when he was in high school. He entered the United States Navy after graduation and was stationed at Balboa Naval Hospital until his discharge. He married the love of his life, Marilyn Burt, in 1950 and was recalled into the Navy in January of 1951. Jerry spent his second enlistment in Albuquerque as a Recruiter. After his discharge he worked for Miller Chevrolet in Taos before going to work for Motors Insurance Corporation, a subsidiary of General Motors, from which he retired after 37 years. Jerry and Marilyn were longtime members of San Isidro Catholic Church in Corrales. He loved woodworking and hand carving in his spare time, but his greatest love was his family. Jerry was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Rosary will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2014, 7:00 p.m., at FRENCH - Westside. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, October 10, 2014, 10:00 a.m., San Ysidro Catholic Church in Corrales, with burial to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:45 p.m. Should friends desire memorial contributions may be made in Jerry's name to St. Vincent de Paul, 5015 Corrales Rd., Corrales 87048.
