Gerald Alen "Jerry" Heil

Heil, Gerald "Jerry" Alen Age 77, longtime resident of Albuquerque passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2014. He is survived by his loving wife, Sue; step-daughters, Lanese Jorgensen and husband, Bob Huebner, and Laurie Jorgensen; granddaughters, Elizabeth and Nicole; brother, Kenneth D. Heil and wife, Marilyn; nephews, Mark and Michael; and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Dorothy Heil; and his nephew, Matthew Heil. He and Sue married June 7, 1977. He was always a loving caregiver and devoted husband. They had many wonderful years raising daughters, exploring the outdoors, and hiking the mountains together. Jerry reached the summit of all 53 "14ers" in Colorado with Sue by his side on a few of them. He had a long engineering career with US West telecommunications and retired in 1990. Jerry had a love of mathematics and began teaching at T-VI after his retirement. His passion for math helped him make a difficult subject approachable for many students. Friends may visit FRENCH - University on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Services will be held on the same day at Sandia Baptist Church, 9429 Constitution Ave. NE at 2:00 p.m. Private interment with military honors will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
