George Austin Walker Jr. (aka "Austin", "Papi", "Grandpa", "Pops", and whatever other mumblings infant grandchildren make) 75, returned to service, yet in a different uniform this time. He was called to duty one last time and will not be returning from this mission. He picked up his ruck sack, climbed in to his spiritual M1070 HET, and moved out on March 5, 2018. He entered this world on February 22, 1943 in Fort Worth, TX, born to George and Faye Walker. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda Walker ; brother, Jimmy Walker, son, Austin Walker; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Walker, daughter, Laura Bradshaw, son-in-law, Jeff Bradshaw, four grandsons, and four granddaughters.
Austin is a 24-year veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserves 1977-2001, where he served from Ft. Richardson, AK to Frankfurt, Germany. During his career he deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm, 1990-1991.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2018, 10:00 a.m. at FRENCH - Wyoming, 7121 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:45 p.m.
