George Edward Pinkerton (fondly known to many as "Ed"), age 72, our beloved father, brother, uncle, loyal friend, and mentor to many, passed away from this earthly life and entered the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on Monday, August 9, 2021.
He was loved by so many from all over, and was known for his unfailing faith, patriotism, love of family, laughter, and contagiously quirky sense of humor. George served in the United States Air Force and was particularly proud of his tour in Vietnam during his 20 years of active-duty service. Following his retirement from the service, he became a substance abuse counselor within the Homerville State Prison in Georgia. Loving, mentoring, and helping those with addictions was near and dear to his heart. George is survived by his loving children, his daughter, Kathryn D. Motes and spouse, Travis D Motes; his son, Benjamin E Pinkerton and spouse, Serena D Pinkerton; four grandchildren, Katy Bennett and spouse, Matt Bennett, Austin Sauls and spouse, Kim Sauls, Hannah Sauls, and Kaycey Motes; one great-grandchild, Ada Grace Sauls. He is also survived by his brother, Tom Pinkerton (Jo-Ellen Pinkerton); and sister, Linda Rogers. He also leaves many cherished aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Emily Pinkerton of Sulligent, Alabama.
George will be given full military honors at the Dallas/Ft Worth National Veterans Cemetery on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, 11:00 a.m., followed by a Memorial Service to celebrate his life at 4:00 p.m., at Compassion Church in Wichita Falls, Texas.
